WHO: Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid
WHY: To protest majority shareholders' Heather Reisman and Gerry Schwarz's founding and support for Heseg – Foundation for Lone Soldiers. Heseg, founded in 2005, provides financial support to former Israeli 'Lone Soldiers' in the form of scholarships based on need and military achievement. One of the members of Heseg's board, Doron Almog, avoided arrest in 2005 in London, UK, for war crimes.
The federal government recently granted Heseg charitable status. Heseg has no charitable function. In fact, it provides financial support to mercenaries to settle in Israel after serving in occupied Palestine.
This National Day of Action is part of a growing global campaign to isolate apartheid Israel through boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS).
